Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin gives one of the best brewery tours in the nation … or so I’ve read. Since I have not yet had the chance to travel north to experience it myself, I visited their website for more info and discovered their nine-part video brewery tour online. The above clip is only the first one. Watching these videos is almost like being there, except no free beer. So, I suggest cracking open a chilled Lakefront beer to enhance the realism.

New Glarus Brewery Tour
Written by Laura Sandy with Scott Weber
New Glarus, WI — If you are not from the Midwest, New Glarus Brewing Company is probably the best brewery you’ve never heard of. Wait, take that back. With a projected 100,000+ barrel production in 2011 (final numbers not available at this time), multiple Best Brewery awards, and numerous gold medal awards for their many beers, New Glarus is probably one of the best breweries you’ve heard of but never tasted unless you live in or close to Wisconsin.

Tin Mill Brewery Tour
Written by Matt Osmundsen with John Hueseman
Hermann, MO – “Everything’s German in Hermann” should be this Missouri town’s slogan. Hermann was settled by German immigrants in the mid-1800s. Located an hour and a half drive west of St. Louis along the banks of the Missouri River, Hermann is home to many German attractions, which includes, of course, a brewery. This one is called the Tin Mill Brewery and exemplifies Hermann’s heritage.

Yazoo Brewery Tour
By Matt Osmundsen with Reggie Bogart
Nashville, TN — Back in mid-September, a group of our friends ventured to the Music City in search of good music and good times. Amid our tours of the various country music landmarks, we all had the opportunity to enjoy one of Nashville’s newer treasures, the Yazoo Brewing Company. In “beer years” it is very young, only being in operation for 8 years. However, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the Nashville market and surrounding area.
Fitz’s Root Beer Tour — Video (1 of 3) — Freshly filled bottles of cream soda are carbonated right before our eyes by spinning them five times. Notice the finished bottle standing proud in the middle announcing what the bottling line is producing that day.
Fitz’s Root Beer Tour — Video (2 of 3) — Empty bottles file in to be filled with the makings of delicious cream soda. After going through the merry-go-round, they are quickly capped and move on down the line to be carbonated and boxed.
Fitz’s Root Beer Tour — Video (3 of 3) — Owner of Fitz’s, Michael Alter, tells us that all their sodas are made by hand as we see his employees grab new bottles to put onto the line.
Fitz’s Root Beer Tour
By Matt Osmundsen
St. Louis, MO — Root beer is neither a root nor a beer. Discuss. It’s true, root beer’s connection to real beer is in name only, but we’ll make an exception this one time. Fitz’s Premium Root Beer is truly an American classic that deserves a spot next to the storied craft breweries in the fizzy history of carbonated beverages. Located in St. Louis, Missouri—in the Delmar Loop area of University City, for those familiar with the area—Fitz’s has been pumping out bottles of delicious root beer since 1947.
