Why It’s Named …

One of my favorite parts of a brewery tour (other than the free beer samples, of course) is learning the story behind how that particular brewery got its name.

Brewery etymology is not the study of a scientific brewing process. Instead, it is study of the history of brewery names, their origins, and how they may have changed over time.

Click below to learn why it’s named …

  • Deschutes Brewery (Bend, OR) (pronounced duh-SHOOTS)
  • Lucky Town Brewing Co. (Jackson, MS)
  • Dogfish Head Brewery (Milton, DE)
  • Half Acre Beer Co. (Chicago, IL)
  • 5 Rabbit Cerverceria (Chicago, IL)
  • Spoetzl Brewery (Shiner, TX)
  • Boulevard Brewing Co. (Kansas City, MO)
  • Sprecher Brewing Co. (Milwaukee, WI)
  • Three Floyds Brewing Co. (Munster, IN)
  • Finch’s Beer Co. (Chicago, IL)
  • Two Brothers Brewing Co. (Warrenville, IL)
  • Anheuser-Busch (St. Louis, MO)
  • Matt Brewing Co. (Utica, NY)
  • Red Stripe Beer (Kingston, Jamaica)
  • 4 Hands Brewing Co. (St. Louis, MO)
